The Master of the Arts in Teaching Comprehensive Special Education is designed to meet the needs of individuals seeking to be licensed as Special Education teachers or seeking to enhance their teaching and to effectively meet the needs of at-risk and exceptional learners in the general education classroom.

  • Two letters of recommendation from current professional references with cover sheet Note: Recommendations must be obtained from individuals who are not family members, personal friends, or members of the School of Education at the University of Saint Joseph.
  • Personal entrance essay (typed, double spaced, 1-2 pages long)
    • The essay must briefly describe your reasons for wanting to enroll in the program and emphasize your experiences and dispositions relevant to teaching. It must be your own work.
  • Interview where a planned program of study will be developed once all application requirements received
  • Immunization record
