1. Complete the Graduate School App
Once your application is processed you will be mailed and emailed a welcome letter with your ID number and login credentials to our self-serve portal on MyUSJ.

2. Access Your Folder
Please use the login credentials to view your admission folder, your admissions status, and all of the information provided.  When you access your admission folder under "View Folder Items," you will see a list of documents that need to be submitted to complete your file and be reviewed for admission.

3. Begin Submitting Admission Requirements
As admission requirements are submitted and processed, the individual requirement will move from the "Requirements Not Met Yet" to "Requirements Met" and they will be placed in your physical file.  It should be noted that for many programs once you submit the following documents you can complete your initial registration (Step 5) to take non-matriculated coursework prior to receiving an admission decision:
  • A $50 application fee
  • A transcript showing degree conferral from a regionally-accredited institution and the minimum GPA and course prerequisites of your selected program
Should these documents all be submitted, you will be notified by email with further instructions on how to complete your initial registration (if applicable.) You are limited to a maximum of six credits before you must be admitted to a graduate degree program.

4. Complete Your Admission File
After submitting all admission requirements excluding immunizations, a copy of your file will be sent from the Office of Graduate Admissions to the respective Program Director for review.

It is at this time that you should contact the Program Director to setup an appointment to complete a Planned Program of Study, only if your program requires this step (you will be given contact information for someone in the department if you require this step.)  Many departments use a Planned Program of Study as a guide to assist students when selecting their coursework each semester.

Once the program has made their decision, the Program Director informs the Office of Graduate Admissions and we will inform you of the decision through both standard mail and email.

5. Complete & Submit Your Initial Registration
Once you are cleared to register as a non-matriculated student or you're admitted to a program, you will be notified that you are eligible to complete your initial registration and you will be sent the instructions on how to do so.  Once registered, you will be sent an email informing you of your login credentials for USJ email, MyUSJ, and Blackboard accounts.

The majority of degree seeking students will be able to complete any future registrations through MyUSJ (with the exception of students who have been admitted to a program that controls its own enrollments.  In those circumstances, the student is required to work with the office manager or Program Director directly to complete the appropriate paperwork to be registered.)
